We were hoping to just get some honey for our tea and fulfill a lifelong desire to raise bees. Starting with 2 hives, we closed the season with 6. As far as getting some honey for my tea, 200 pounds later we began selling to friends and family. What keeps us excited is the joy, challenge, and fascination 30,000 bugs in a box can provide.
Our honey is available for online ordering or at your local farmers market. We focus on micro-batching in order to achieve the most distinct flavors. Our honey flavors change as the season changes, so order ahead!
The beeswax is made by the same bees that produce the honey so all the products are as local as it gets. Beeswax candles are a cleaner, brighter, and much longer burn than petroleum based candles. There is also little to no dripping which makes them extremely versatile.
Most beehives are constructed from pine, which is a soft wood and lacks durability and are prone to fungal infection and rot. Dipping dries and preserves the pine by removing moisture and substituting a mix of harmless waxes which are water repellent. The longevity of wooden items is therefore greatly enhanced. Wax dipping is also an effective way of disinfecting wooden parts, and can be used to salvage equipment exposed to foulbrood, as spores are eradicated by the extreme heat involved.
